Shopping for a Blazer

A few weeks ago, I took my beloved Helmut Lang white blazer to the dry cleaners. Unfortunately, the leather details by the neck area had bled through and stained all over the blazer. There’s sadly no way of salvaging it. It was one of those investment pieces and one that was my stable. I would wear it to work with black skinnies, or with shorts for a casual yet structured look (here). So here I am on the hunt for my next stable. I love a bright colored one, such as electric blue or peach. But a neutral colored one – like white, black, or grey – is just so versatile. I think shopping for a blazer is something you should do in the stores and not online because the fit of it is so important. A few things I look for when shopping for a blazer:
1. Fitted and structured – this is why it’s important to try them on. You want to have enough room around the shoulders.
2. Sleeves – I personally like having the option to roll up the sleeves a little bit.
3. Length – Because I wear my blazers with shorts, dresses, and pants, I look for one that lands at my hips.
