August 29, 2012 § 55 Comments

On my 100th post, I want to say thank you so much for visiting, following, and commenting on my blog! I am so thankful to have this little space in the blogsphere where I get to be inspired by all of you.

In other exciting news, I am off to NYC next week! I’m beyond stoked to attend the Fashion And Beauty Blogger (FABB) Conference with Lucky Magazine! It also coincides with NYFW…;) Be sure to follow Lucky Magazine’s twitter (@luckymagazine) with #luckyfabb for the latest! I haven’t been to NYC for 20+ years so I’m sure I’ll have a ton to share.  Suggestions for things to do in the city are welcomed!

Shrimp Ceviche

August 22, 2012 § 34 Comments

To be honest, I haven’t stepped into my kitchen to cook a meal in a long time.  I’m all for recipes that are easy enough and require little cooking time, though.  Shrimp ceviche is exactly one of those, and so refreshing for the summer.

What you’ll need (serves 4 as an appetizer):

  1. Half pound of shrimp
  2. 1 cucumber
  3. 1 serrano pepper
  4. 1/5 cup of cilantro
  5. 1 avocado
  6. 1/4 clove of garlic
  7. Half of a red onion
  8. 2 lemons
  9. 1 cup of lime juice
  10. Cayenne pepper, black pepper, salt, and sugar to taste

Directions:

  1. Peel and cook shrimp thoroughly, set aside. Dice shrimp.
  2. Chop and dice cucumber, serrano pepper, cilantro, avocado, garlic, and red onion.
  3. Mix shrimp and chopped vegetables with lemon and lime juice.
  4. Add salt, pepper, sugar to taste.
  5. Serve chilled.

Sunny with a Chance of Rain

I find fashion inspirations anywhere and everywhere.  Whether it’d be from a box of desserts, a certain mood I’m feeling, or something I see on TV.  I have the J. Crew “Blythe” blouse in solid white, and was excited to see a polka dot version of it.  The solid white is versatile in its own way but the polka dot one is so fun to pair with other patterns or layer with sweaters. When I received the blouse in the mail, the soft gray dots reminds me of rain drops.  Since I was going for a summer-y look (it’s still triple-digit degrees in Los Angeles), I paired it with a bright yellow skirt.  One that reminds me of sunshine whenever I reach for it.

Floral Whitney

The long hours during the weekdays definitely make me appreciate and treasure the time off I have during weekends.  The highlight of this past weekend was getting to spend some time with 2 of my best friends.  We got ready at my place and then headed out to downtown LA for dinner and drinks.  These shots were taken earlier in the day when it was triple-digit weather.  This E&J blouse is very air-y and the fabric is so soft which makes it effortless during scorching hot days.  Aside from my affinity for floral, I’m also currently coveting  any shoes with ankle straps.
